First teams of Ice Festival 2018!

Francesca Cosmi – is an Italian master sculptor in sand since 2001, snow 2008 and ice 2014, and a mechanical engineering designer. She has been carving sand for national and international fairs, festivals, private companies and competitions. She has been working internationally whit perishable materials. When carving, she like to create figurative sculptures, human and animal parts. She loves to team up with husband Walter, under the “Sandytales” name. To the skeptics of ephemeral piece she say: Even a concert lasts a moment but it brings special emotions also because it is an unique moment and a sand sculpture is just the same. 2nd place at 1st Snow Art Pontebba Italy 2016 and Ice Festival Jaliinna Finland 2015.

Walter Fantino – is a master sculptor in sand since 2001, snow 2008 and ice 2014, and an Italian architect. He has been carving sand for national and international fairs, private customers  and competitions. He prefers to focus on architectures, geometrical elements, logos and above all castles, which awe children. But his favorite thing of all is to sculpt the sand with his wonderful wife Francesca. Together they form a fantastic couple in life and in sand with the name “Sandytales”. Walter always says: remember that the bucket is only used to carry water, do not try to turn  it over full of sand. It is not a good system!  He plays center-forward in the over 40 soccer division. His teammates use to say “if you only could play soccer as well as you carve sand…”. 2nd place at 1st Snow Art Pontebba Italy 2016 and Ice Festival Jaliinna Finland 2015.

Dalius Dregva – is a sculptor from Lithuania. He has 8 years experience working with Ice, mostly in privet Ice galleries around the world: Norway, Denmark, USA. He was a participant in a Ice on Whyte festival, Canada. He achieved a third place in Poznan Ice Festival 2016, personal and team competition. He was one of main organizers of Ice sculpture festival “Fairy tail” in Lithuania, in 2017. Also Working with sculptures in different materials.

Vidas Simanavičius – graduated from Vilnius accademy of fine arts achieving Master‘s degree in Monumental sculpture and is best recognised for his contemporary hyperrealistic touch to the classical genre of portrait and figurative art. Ice carving is also one of the strongest fields of professional career. In 2017 his team won the 1st place at the first international Ice sculpture festival-competition in Lithuania „Pasaka“. V.Simanavičius is a member of both Lithuanian Artists‘ Association and The Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists Association. The artist masters techniques of a variety of materials, including ice, wood, terracota, stone, bronze, resin, silicone or even other – depending on the artistic idea that is due to be realised.

Kee Gawah – Malaysian citizen. He has been working in the Hospitality industry for 30 years. Ice carving is a part of his job for 20 years. He has been competing in England, Singapore, Poland, Finland, Canada and Slovakia. First and third place in London, 2013. Silver medal in Edmonton 2010. People’s choice award in Calgary 2010 and few bronze in Ottawa few years back.

Julio Martinez -he started to carve in 2004. After the culinary art school he started in a catering services. In 2008 he was traveling to Alaska for his first international competition. He never knew that he was competing with the top ice artist in the world. He was involved in Ice Alaska park for 7 years as an ice carver instructor and sculpting support. Between this he started to make more competitions in Russia, China, Poland, Canada and USA. He believe he is the ice vagabond traveller.

Sanita Rāviņa – artist. Sculptor. Designer. Working in different technics and materials. Participated in many international ice and sand sculpture projects in different places in the world. Has got some awards as well.

Zīle Ozoliņa-Šneidere – artist. Sculptor. Art teacher.  Working in different technics and materials. Participated in many international ice and sand sculpture projects. Has got some awards as well.
